I work as a somatic therapist based in rural Nova Scotia, where I chop wood, grow veggies and belong to a community. I work online as a therapist across Canada. I work slow, often in contradiction to a fast-paced world, but I believe in connecting to the world around us, the land, and each other. I hold a Master’s in Somatic Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies. My training was centred on anti-oppressive, trauma-informed care and the belief that healing is political.
I understand therapy as a living, relational process that unfolds between us in real time. This means that I am not only interested in the stories you tell about your life, but also in what happens *here and now* between us—your impulses, emotions, and body responses in the room or on the screen. I genuinely welcome the moments when you disagree with me, feel hurt, irritated, or even a bit “irked” by something I say or do. These experiences are not signs of failure or “resistance”; they are meaningful information about your needs, boundaries, expectations, and relational patterns—often richer and more revealing than a carefully polished story told afterward.
When something feels off, I want us to talk about it together. I approach these moments with curiosity, care, and a commitment to accountability, listening closely for what is important to you and what your reactions might be showing us. I am human and I do make mistakes, and I value your feedback as part of our work. My intention is to co-create a relationship that can hold honesty and complexity, where we name and explore tensions and repairs together in ways that support your growth, dignity, and sense of safety.
My work is grounded in disability justice, anti-capitalist values, and the ongoing work of depathologizing mental health. I don’t see diagnoses as life sentences—I see them as adaptations to environments that may have failed to meet your needs.
Healing, for me, is not about perfection—it’s about being with our human-ness so that we can learn how to develop the skills to be in relationship with the world.
